Role Description
smbw is seeking a talented and motivated Architectural Designer to contribute to the firm’s portfolio of small to mid-sized projects. The candidate should demonstrate a growing understanding of building strategy and possess emerging design development skills. The Architectural Designer will collaborate with project teams and contribute across all phases of a project. Responsibilities
Collaborate with project teams to support the development of design concepts and help translate project objectives into architectural solutions.
Assist in preparing design drawings, presentations, and technical documentation in alignment with project goals and regulatory standards.
Support research efforts and help explore design methodologies, materials, and technologies to enhance project quality and sustainability.
Participate in design team meetings and contribute to a creative, collaborative environment that encourages growth and knowledge sharing.
Assist in presenting design concepts to clients and stakeholders under the guidance of senior staff, ensuring clarity and alignment with project requirements.
Pursue professional development opportunities, such as workshops or certifications, to advance design and technical skills.
Provide support to Project Managers in organizing project workflows and maintaining project timelines.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in architecture from a NAAB-accredited program.
Experience: 2-5 years of professional architectural experience, including involvement in design and documentation phases.
Technical knowledge: Familiarity with building and material systems and all regulatory standards.
Software proficiency: Proficient in Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam Studio, and Miro, with the ability to quickly adapt to other relevant design tools and technologies.
Proactive learner: Demonstrates initiative in pursuing educational and professional development opportunities independently.
Licensure progress: Licensure or having taken active steps toward completing the ARE exams is preferred.
